An outdoor antenna will always perform better than an indoor antenna, because outdoor antennas have: 

• better line-of-sight
• better reception without filtration from building materials
• less localized interference

This outdoor antenna will not break the bank considering it is high quality and is tuned for ACARS, VDL, and general airband reception in the 118-137mhz frequencies.
