An outdoor antenna will always perform better than an indoor antenna, because outdoor antennas have: 

• better line-of-sight
• better reception without filtration from building materials
• less localized interference

However, sometimes you just can't set up an outdoor antenna because you:

• live in an HOA condo, townhouse, or home that has rules against
• not yet ready to mount/drill/etc outside
• are just developing/testing something and need it simple

This indoor antenna design won't break the bank, but it'll still give you the ADS-B reception you are hoping for (considering it is indoors).
